Carlos played his youth career in Mexico with Guadalajara then Tigres UANL before joining the Salt Lake Academy in 2012. He was promoted to the first team as a homegrown player in 2013.
He played 2 seasons for Salt Lake and then went to Guadalajara for 3 seasons. During those 3 seasons he was also loaned out to both Fiorentina in Serie A and Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga before signing for Frankfurt in August 2018. In January 2019 he was transferred to Tigres UANL on a four year contract.
He comes to TFC as a DP in a swap deal that involved Yeferson Soteldo going the other way.
After some family issues in Mexico, the club and Salcedo agreed to a mutual termination of contract in July 2022. Carlos signed for Liga Mx side Juarez FC.
